Hank's guitar strap pattern!

From around late 1959 to early 1961, Hank Marvin used a unique beaded guitar strap with a pattern inspired by traditional Native American designs.

I don't know its exact origins, but it is thought to have been supplied with Fender custom order guitars for a very brief period. However, in the very earliest photos after Hank got his Strat, he is using a plain black strap instead, and seems to start using this patterned one after Bruce and Jet got their Fender guitars... so maybe it came with one of theirs instead and they let Hank use it! Either that, or he bought it separately, or it was a gift.

Apparently, a couple of reproductions already exist, one of them being owned by Colin Pryce-Jones of The Rapiers, but now I've recreated the pattern so you can make your own, if you want to!

This design may not be 100% accurate as I recreated it from a small partial image of the design (namely, the only one I can find in colour: this magazine poster). The part I'm unsure about is the yellow bits in the teal triangles. There is something in the triangles in the photo but it just looks like a smudge of lighter colour.

Repeating pattern - just extend it up and down

Time to bring out THIS photo again...
